Valentine's Day Flower Sale – Thursday 2/9 & Friday 2/10

Yes, it's back!!  We could have never imagined how much the children loved sending flowers to friends, teachers, staff and even taking them home for someone special in their family!  For only $1 each the children get to purchase a large carnation flower and attach a hand-written note.  The flowers will be delivered to classrooms Tuesday morning, February 14^th before school starts, with their personal Valentine note attached. J

Volunteers are needed:

Thursday:  Flowers on Sale – 8:00am – 9:00am and 11:00am – 1:00pm

Friday:  Flowers on Sale – 8:00am – 9:00am and 11:00am – 1:00pm

Saturday:  tagging and organizing for delivery – Time (to be announced)

Tuesday morning delivery – 8:00am – 9:00am

PTA Hosts Meet & Greet

Lake Myra PTA will be hosting our new Meet-N-Greet

This is going to be a fun social event for parents to find out more about our PTA and the inner workings of it.  Not sure how to get involved? Don’t have a ton of time, but want to be part of enhancing your child’s school experience? Stay-at-home parent or full-time working parent, there is a place for you…you’ll be able to ask lots of questions!

(Finger foods & drinks will be served)

As always, thank you for supporting the children of Lake Myra Elementary and our endeavors of enhancing their school experience with parent interactions in these special events and everyday activities. We look forward to working with each of you in the second half of this school year!

Announcements & Updates!

Hello Lake Myra Families:
As we enter the Thanksgiving Holiday, I am reminded about how fast the school year has gone so far and all the wonderful things we have been able to take part in...we've started the Backpack Buddies Program to run each and every week, a Custodian Appreciation Week, the 3rd Annual Fun Run with a Pep Rally & Awards Ceremony, the Scholastic Fall Book Fair, the Fun Run $100+ Pizza Party, and helped with a very successful Principles Education Summit. Phew, it's been busy here at the Lake!!

Notes of Interest this week:
Carolina Ballet Tickets - pre-purchased tickets were mailed this past week directly to your home. If you have NOT received them or have any questions regarding them, please contact our Cultural Arts Chair, Rita Rakestraw at (919)360-0975.

Creative Play Class - Families with children 3-5 years of age: The Eastern Region Ready to Learn Center will have a Creative Play class here at Lake Myra on Wednesdays from 10:30-11:30am. This is a resource through Wake County Public Schools and Project Enlightenment. For more information, please contact Janice Squires at (919)365-0921.

We want to thank our wonderful parent volunteers who brought food to the recent Principal's Education Summit!!  It was absolutely lovely having all that food and the meeting was great success for all involved!!

Fun Run: September 8th

This year's Fun Run is right around the corner....we had a great Fun Run Pep Rally last week to get the kids excited about raising money and getting sponsors for the Fun Run.  The Fun Run Rules and Procedures are below and if you need additional sponsor forms, please click {here}.

Seeking Fun Run Business Sponsors

Swimmy's 3rd Annual Fun Run is scheduled for Thursday, September 8th.  We would like to open the opportunities for sponsorship to our Lake Myra family owned businesses before we go to the general public and surrounding communities. Sponsorships can be done at three different monetary levels. Donations of services or equal value items are welcomed for adult and child prizes. Please email lmyrapta@gmail.com for more ideas.
